So I want to make my 360 run quieter. My original one was great but after my RROD, the one I got back sounds like a jet engine. My system is well out of warranty anyway, so i was thinking of this mod. Have any of you guys done it, and did it work for you?

I've replaced a few fans, and yeah it can make a huge difference. Worst case scenario, it blows up and you migrate to the cost effective world of the PS3. Ha.

But yeah it's super simple to do. I've taken the original Xbox apart more times than I can count (frankenbox)

Personally I'd avoid any of them that glow, any color. Whisper fans should have all costs dedicated to high quality hardware, not silly led's. But that's just me.
